1-2-1 Personal Training

Specialist personal training that focuses on the needs and goals of the individual, including functionality, balance and coordination, range of movement and strength and conditioning.

At DR Inclusive Fitness and Wellbeing, we specialise in personal training that focuses on the needs and goals of the individual. A lot of what we do in the gym relates to daily living and what the person may find difficult. We then use our skills and knowledge, along with the person’s lived experience, to make daily living tasks a little easier. By doing this we look to improve and maintain independence for our clients for as long as possible.

Some of the things we may focus on include functionality, which helps with everyday movements, strength training, range of movement, balance and stability, coordination and pain management.

We have a lot of experience working with a wide range of disabled people and people with long term health conditions. We work with children as young as 5 and our oldest client is currently 93!

A personalised approach

Control of the environment is vital in creating an inclusive space. We are able to control who is in the gym at any given time which allows us to manage noise, lights and space to meet both sensory and access needs. This also allows us to utilise story boards, British Sign Language and PEC systems with some of our clients.

There will only be two 1-2-1 sessions in the gym at any one time and in some cases, where possible and if required, we will close the gym for an individual 1-2-1 session.

We also recognise that conditions fluctuate and for this reason, we place a lot of importance on the relationship between client and trainer. It is important to manage energy levels and sometimes there is a fine line between doing enough that you are progressing and doing too much that you don’t have enough “spoons” for the rest of the day.

Two of the ways we try and help this is that we offer packages that can include both personal training and massage therapy. We also offer a free consultation so that you can come in and have a chat with one of our team and we can match you up with a personal trainer.
